Patients Letters
Extracts from two letters received from patients who are receiving treatment on the Unit:
Letter 1
“I just had to write and express my appreciation for the opportunity of having the remainder of my treatment in the new Mobile Chemotherapy Unit at Cirencester….. . it has given a real boost to my morale and others too . . .
Fortnightly chemotherapy sessions seem like a treadmill but it is not the vital treatment that causes stress but external irritants like getting there, parking, travel costs, long waiting periods etc. . . . Today I was able to “just pop out for chemo” with a short 5 minute journey to meet my 10am appointment for a two-hour chemo session. I was treated by friendly staff who were obviously proud of their new unit, had an enjoyable experience with other similarly contented patients and was back at my workplace in time to do a full afternoon’s work.
This Mobile Chemotherapy Unit has made me look forward to receiving my last four treatments rather than dreading them. Please convey my appreciation to all who were responsible for the idea for such a splendid facility and those who worked so hard to raise the money to make it happen . . .”
Letter 2
“Having recently had my latest chemotherapy treatment in Cirencester on the new mobile bus I wanted to write to say how much less stressful and tiring the whole experience was.
I have had 3 treatments in Cheltenham and as it is so busy there the first one took a very long time, we left home at 9.30am and returned at 9pm. The second was slightly better, we were home at 7pm and the third we were home at 6pm. I am delighted my 4th treatment (in Cirencester) was much quicker. We left home at 11.20am and were home by 2.00pm – what a difference! It was much less tiring, the journey to Cirencester was quicker and even the parking was better.
. . . I’m sure other patients will find the same benefit as I have. I hope this mobile unit continues as I feel it is providing an invaluable service to people who really need it.”
